How I made my card:
1. Make the card base.
I folded a piece of A4 white card in half, making a large card approximately 21cm x 15cm

2. Source an image that you like from a vintage book. I used an old book about pets that was in poor condition.
3. Choose some cardstock and paper that compliments your picture.
I choose brown cardstock and some brown patterned paper.
Next, I cut the dark brown card to the size of my base card and used double sided sticky tape to attach it to the front of the card.

4. I then cut my patterned paper to size. I wanted a small margin of the darker card to show around the edges, so that the darker brown card becomes a border.
The patterned paper was attached using double sided sticky tape (note that the reverse side of my paper had a different pattern).

5. I then tore the edges of my vintage book picture down to size, so that it would fit neatly in the middle of the card. I left one edge straight.
It was also attached with double sided sticky tape.

6. Finally I added some simple embellishments to finish off the card.
I used my Sizzix big shot machine to cut out some branches and flowers from the same brown card that I used for the base card.
I used a Xyron sticker maker on the branches

Then I attached the branches to the card, and trimmed off the overhang
I glued some pearl domes onto the flowers

I used foam dots (for a 3-dimensional look) to attach the flowers to the card
Finally, I used tiny alpha stickers to add "Happy Birthday" to the card
