Tomato and Apple Chutney
A delicious tomato chutney with a slight sweetness. It's sure to become a favourite.

Ingredients
1 kg tomatoes, chopped
1 purple onion, finely chopped
2 apples, cored, peeled and diced (approx. 180g of diced apple)
300g raw sugar
200ml white vinegar
2 tsp salt
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp ground ginger
½ tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp sweet paprika
½ tsp cinnamon
1 kg tomatoes, chopped

Method
1. Combine all the ingredients in a large, heavy based saucepan and heat until the sugar has dissolved. |

2. Simmer gently over a low heat, stirring regularly, until a thick consistency is achieved. As the chutney thickens, you will need to stir it more often to avoid it sticking and burning.

3. Pour into sterilized jars while still hot and seal
|
