Slugs
Thanks for your support!
Slug is a commonly used term for any apparently shell-less terrestrial gastropod mollusc (1).
A slug may have no shell, a very reduced shell, or only a small internal shell.
This is in contrast to the common name snail, which applies to gastropods that have a coiled shell large enough that they can fully retract their soft parts into it(1).
- Terrestial = land inhabiting
- Mollusc (Molllisk) = soft-bodied invertebrate of the phylum Mollusca (2)
- Gastropod = any of a large class of molluscs (such as snails and slugs) usually with a univalve shell or none and a distinct head bearing sensory organs (3)
