Old Walhalla Post Office Museum
The old Walhalla Post Office was built in1886. This original building retains all the features and ambiance of it's time. The building was lived in by the Post Mistress Dorreen Hannan. When the Post Office was closed, Doreen purchased the building from the government, shut up the front shop in the building leaving it unchanged, and lived in the back of the building with no refrigeration, electricity or gas until 1986. After her death the building was converted to a museum. The original 19th century wallpapers are still in place, as is the kitchen and many other elements of the cottage. It is definitely worth a visit.
