Using the Stamps
The Flower
1. Create a canvas - I've used an A3 sized (420mm x 297mm) canvas at 300dpi
2. Choose a Colour Palette:
You will need 2 greens for the vines & leaves, two shades of the same colour for the flowers (eg pink light & dark) and a background colour for starters.
I've used the following hexadecimal colours:

I've used the following hexadecimal colours:
- c5df85 (a light green)
- 616f3b (a darker green)
- 52529a (blue for my background)
- e198abb (pink - petal shading colour)
- 9f3465 (darker pink - petal colour)

4. Save the colour into a New Palette - I like to do this so I have a record of the colours I used. You never know when it will come in handy.
5. Turn on the drawing guide
6. Set the Brush Colours
7. Draw the first petal - note because of the radial symmetry, drawing one petal onto the canvas will results in 8 petals appearing. I set the size of the petal brush to 3%, but if the size of your canvas is different to mine, you will need to adjust. Do not draw too fast.
Hint: if your petal colours look wrong, you may have the background petal set to the wrong colour. Click onto the "Colours Menu" and tap once onto the darker colour. That will set it as the petal colour.
14. Add in shading to the back petals
16. Create a new layer at the top, and turn on drawing assist.
Note - if the petals are coming out the wrong colour, you may have the petal and shading colours the wrong way around. Go to the colours menu and tap on the darker colour to set it to the petal colour. |
17. Add in shading to the new front petals
19. Shading the Flower Centre
20. Draw in the flower centre
21. Final Adjustments
THe Vines
1. Create a new layer below the "flower" group and rename it "vines".
2. Get the brush ready
The Leaves
3. In the "Top leaves" layer, draw in leaves poking out from behind the flower, but on top of the vines. As with the petals, practice and delete until you have the leaves looking how you like them. I find drawing slowly with light pressure works well. pause slightly at the start of the stroke for a wider base, and then lift the pressure off as you draw out the stroke.

Adding Extra Flowers By Copying
1. To create extra smaller flowers, duplicate the "flower" group (do this by swiping the group left and choosing "duplicate"
2. Expand the duplicated group and delete the bottom two layers and their shading. Do this by swiping each individual layer to the left and choosing "delete" 3. Rename the remaining group "small flower" |
7. Changing the colour of a flower:
Adding New Flowers from scratch
4. Repeating the steps from creating the original flower, create a new flower in this spot. Change colours and experiment with different colours for the inner petals.
5. Turn off the Drawing Assist
6. . Group the layers of this new flower together, flatten the layers & then duplicate the flower. Scatter them around the canvas. Move some behind the leaves & vines.
